By training the eye to see, the hand will follow.
The streets are the studio and buildings are the model. Whether you are a beginning artist with no drawing experience, an advanced artist looking to improve your skills or simply interested in a creative way to spend the day, join me and open your eyes to a new perspective on drawing.
All lessons, workshops and seminars are based on the "analytique" as the core drawing exercise. Developed within the eighteenth-century Beaux Arts Academy in Paris, an analytique combines traditional studio drawing techniques with architecturally-based methods of visual analysis. Not only will you learn to draw what you see, you will learn how to deconstruct and make sense of the underlying proportions, patterns and poetry of the visual world. Choose your own subject-- a tree, a skyscraper, a figure, an abstract arrangement of shapes-- and see how the principles of the analytique help you translate the three dimensional world onto the two-dimensional page.
There are a variety of programs available to satisfy your curiosity and spark the artist within. Contact me today to learn how to draw, and how to see the world, from a whole new perspective.
